I had it all planned out to surprise my kids for tomorrows Disney on Ice presents Rockin’ Ever After©! event here at Boise’s Taco Bell Arena. My plan was to wait until they got home from school, tell them to get ready for a night out, and not tell them where we were going until we got there. Watching the shock on their faces would’ve been priceless. Would.have.been. That is until I realized I’m not that good at keeping big secrets, nor is my daughter for that matter!
Over the weekend I had gotten really sick and the kids were bored and wanted to do something fun. Since I was in no shape to entertain them, I decided it would be a good time to mention that I had big plans for them on Thursday and if they would just be patient, while I let this head cold run its course, that they would have tons of fun that day. Of course my daughter who is the BIGGEST snoop on the planet Earth wasn’t going to let that one go. She had to know what the surprise was even if she had to be sneaky about it!
This Monday, she was nonchalantly playing on my iPad, when suddenly she belted out:
“WE’RE GOING TO Disney on Ice presents Rockin’ Ever After© YES!!!!”

Big mouth. I forgot that my iPhone calendar syncs with my iPad calendar. (It didn’t used to before IOS6 was released, go figure) Lesson learned. If I want to keep a secret event from my kids, next time I better write it in a secret code on my calendar. Lil stinker. 😉
