Creative Halloween Costumes that don’t break the bank
I had no intention of doing a Halloween post today….until I saw THIS video of a friend of a friend. She had posted a video of her son on my friend’s Facebook comment. It literally made me smile ear to ear and I knew the interwebs NEEDED to see this! I begged asked her for permission to share this. She so sweetly agreed!
Jenna A. mom of 3-year-old ‘Tiny Dee Snider’ says:
The best part is that it was 100% his idea. He’s obsessed with the video and watches it on YouTube. When he won’t get out of bed for preschool I put it on! So of course as soon as I put the wig on I needed a performance. “
Not all superheroes wear capes
So naturally this got me thinking about the handful of other creative kids costumes I’ve seen going around and I wanted to share the smiles with my readers!
In a world where most kids want to wear a costume of their favorite movie and video game character, I was totally blown over by this kid asking his mom to be an Amtrak train conductor for Halloween! Seriously, this kid is going places! #nopunintended.
Meet the son of Natalie Diaz of Twinversity. Isn’t he adorable? She said that Amtrak got word of this and is sending him some goodies too! I love that don’t you? Hat’s off to you buddy!
WARNING! The following images contain cuteness OVERLOAD!
Seriously, can you STAND the cuteness factor here? Meet Chantal Kirkland’s baby girl. She does warn us do NOT eat the baby no matter how cute she is!
Chantal was nice enough to tell us how you too can turn your pumpkin into a s’more!
Read all the details here on her blog NerdyMama.
Anybody else craving s’mores all of a sudden? No? Just me? Anyways……
Sugar and spice and everything nice
In keeping with the sweet tooth themed costumes I give you……drum roll please!
Bubblegum Baby! She just blows you away with her sweetness doesn’t she?
She is the adorable and lovely niece of Erika Chatman of Life of Random. (formerly known as Ericka Saves)
Sometimes you just have to work with you have on hand to be creative
Who says you have to spend a ton of money on a costume for it to be unique and creative? Danielle Simmons of Simmworks Family Blog shows how a busy mom can still put together a last minute Halloween costume dollar store style IN style! Check out this cutie pie in his DIY Octopus costume and learn how you can make one too!
If your kid is on the verge of growing out of Trick or Treating, as most tweens/teens are then you’ll understand completely what Gina Lincicum of MoneyWise Moms went through recently with her 11-year-old son. He changed his mind TWO days before Halloween and wanted to go Trick or Treating. Being a resourceful mom and blogger that Gina is, together they came up with THIS masterpiece!
Pretty genius right? I’ll bet you’re wondering just how they put this together, aren’t you? Well, thankfully Gina was nice enough to tell us in this helpful tutorial!
How to get around the no Halloween costume rule at your school
What do you do when your kid wants to dress up for Halloween at school but the school rules don’t allow for it? Well in Jake’s case, he learned that he just had to dress in a red polo shirt and khakis. His costume was pretty stealthy “Jake from State Farm” (it helps that his name is Jake). The logo wasn’t added on of course until later. At least this way his mom Amy Oztan of Amy Ever After says,
Even if he told people he was Jake from State Farm, he couldn’t really get in trouble for wearing a red shirt and khakis! His dad is a lawyer, he finds loopholes”
Seriously, Amy has me rolling every day with her hilarious antics. She is one of those people who is funny and doesn’t even realize how funny she is! His costume doesn’t really require a tutorial but she does have this INGENIOUS idea for Halloween decor! Check it out!
I had to save this one for last, I couldn’t get a hold of the parents at such last minute, but their video and images have been televised and shown nationwide now! Their backstory is great so make sure you read it! This family really knows the meaning of “The family that plays together stays together!”
May the force be with you lil man!
So what did you think of these costumes? Which one was YOUR favorite? If you need any more last minute ideas, check out my Pinterest board below.
